Dear Buttermilk Jamboree Friends,
Some of your Buttermilk organizers met in March when Covid19 cases were at their lowest point, and we were so optimistic. We dreamed up a modified, smaller Buttermilk Jamboree for 2021. It seemed so possible at the time. Things have changed since then, with Michigan at the literal top of the infection rates chart. It doesn't seem possible to have our Buttermilk Jamboree 2021 festival now given the current circumstances.
Our reasons are many and are both philosophical and practical. We don't want to contribute to uncontrolled spread of a disease that disproportionately affects older adults and minorities - we are a justice seeking organization and we can't see an equitable and safe way to hold our music festival this year. On the practical side, we are required to get governmental authorization to hold our event each year. Right about now is the time we would need to apply for permits, and we can't imagine trying to make a realistic plan for how we would keep everyone safe and healthy right now given the current reality.
We LOVE Buttermilk Jamboree and it is so important to our organization. We create cultural connections with our music festival and we've gained so many friends, members, and dedicated volunteers through having our festival. 2022 has to be better, right? We're planning on a fantastic 2022. We've spent the last 13 months building up our capacity and infrastructure and we're excited to have thousands of people here again.
So, in short, Buttermilk 2021 is postponed to 2022. Put June 17,18,19 2022 down on your calendars for Buttermilk 2022. All tickets from 2020 have automatically rolled over to 2022. If you need a refund, please reach out to us at info@circlepinescenter.net and we'll work it out with you.
Don't forget you can come out to Circle Pines Center, home of Buttermilk Jamboree, year round! Reach out to us to come out for a hike, swim, or a family or solo retreat.
